Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. Paper Clock

9-15-2016 -- In this post, I will be sharing a "clock" craft idea and how I did and taught it to my child. This was a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the "ck" sound as in "clock". This is the most fun part of the curriculum, making the art projects. In this step, I have come up with own ideas and structures for most of Lauren's art & craft projects or activities. I thought about making a simple but fun looking clock face made out of colorful construction papers.

This craft involves cutting, gluing, drawing, and decorating. Every kid is different so when choosing to do or follow a craft, it is best to adapt the project to your kid's situation or abilities also making sure that it helps them learn and that the process is done best that benefits them.

=================================================================MATERIALS FOR THIS CRAFT:
=================================================================

* specialty or construction boards
* construction papers
* scissors
* glue stick
* googly eyes
* colored thumbtacks
* coloring pen or marker
* scotch tape

=================================================================

First, prepare and get all the materials ready so everything is organized and ready to be used when it's time to do the whole craft or project. When preparing the materials, it is best to involve the kids, show them how the things are done if they cannot do it themselves.

=================================================================
READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS:
=================================================================

* cut clock patterns

* cut number patterns

* cut clock hands pattern

* cut mouth pattern

=================================================================
DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT:
=================================================================

* Clock: Depending on what shape of clock your child will make, draw or trace a big and smaller pattern of the shape on a construction or specialty board with color chosen by child. Draw small dots all around small clock pattern as well as a small dot in the middle of it as guide where to glue clock hands and each numbers around it. Cut patterns.

* Clock Numbers: Create numbers inside shape of your choice,  you may create it using Microsoft Word Document or simply draw shape patterns and print numbers inside it using a marker. Make sure the size of the shapes are just enough for the smaller clock pattern. Cut patterns.

* Clock Hands: Create short and long hand patterns on construction papers with colors chosen by child, you may create clock hands in any way or form aside from what is shown. Let child cut patterns.

* Clock Mouth: Draw a small mouth pattern on a construction paper. Let child cut pattern.

=================================================================
DONE BY CHILD:
=================================================================

* cut clock hand patterns

* cut clock mouth pattern

* glue/put together clock

* draw/details on clock

Once, all the materials are ready and prepared, it's now time to work on completing the "paper clock" project.

=================================================================
STEPS IN DOING THIS CLOCK CRAFT:
=================================================================

1. Let child glue smaller clock pattern on bigger clock pattern.

2. Next, let child glue the number shapes all around clock following the small dots drawn around it earlier. Next, let child spread a small amount of glue at the tip of each clock hand patterns and lightly glue the long hand then the short hand on top of it, to hold it in place. Then, let child insert and press a colored thumbtack through the tip of clock hands. Lightly pound the thumbtack nail at the back of the clock to bend it sideways. Let child put scotch tape on thumbtack to hold it in place.

3. Next, let child glue googly eyes on the clock.

4. Next, let child glue mouth on the clock to complete clock face and draw additional details (such as eye lashes or eyebrows) using coloring pen.

5. And there you go, the "paper clock" craft is DONE. You may use this clock later to teach child about reading basic time.
