Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. Stamped Circles Tree

9-19-2016 -- In this post, I will be sharing a "tree" craft idea and how I did and taught it to my child. This was craft art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the "ee" sound as in "tree". This is the most fun part of the curriculum, making the art projects. In this step, I have come up with own ideas and structures for most of Lauren's art & craft projects or activities. Lauren is going to make a "tree" craft, I thought about doing a tree by putting the mouth of a small bottle into a stamp pad then stamping the ink all over the trunk branches to create circles of leaves making up a whole tree.

This craft involves stamping, coloring, cutting, and gluing. Every kid is different so when choosing to do or follow a craft, it is best to adapt the project to your kid's situation or abilities also making sure that it helps them learn and that the process is done best that benefits them.

First, prepare and get all the materials ready so everything is organized and ready to be used when it's time to do the whole craft or project. When preparing the materials, it is best to involve the kids, show them how the things are done if they cannot do it themselves.

=================================================================
READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS:
=================================================================

* cut trunk pattern

* cut background pieces pattern (eg. sun, cloud, etc.)

=================================================================
DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT:
=================================================================

* Trunk: Take brown construction paper and draw trunk pattern on it or you may use a "trunk template", Print this "small tree trunk with roots" template from firstpalette on a brown construction paper. Cut template.

* Background Pieces: You may create any background of your choice aside from what is shown. Draw patterns (such as clouds, flowers, grass, birds, etc.) on a construction paper. Let child cut patterns.

================================================================= DONE BY CHILD:
=================================================================

* cut background patterns

* glue trunk on paper

* stamp circles on paper

* color stamped circles

Once, all the materials are ready and prepared, it's now time to work on completing the "stamped circles tree" project.

================================================================= STEPS IN DOING THIS TREE CRAFT:
=================================================================

1. Let child glue background pieces that should be glued before the trunk on a construction paper. Next, let child glue trunk on paper.

2. Next, let child lightly press mouth of a bottle onto a stamp pad then let child stamp circles all around branches of trunk. Repeat the process until there are enough circles all over the trunk branches completing the whole tree. Let ink dry up.

3. When the ink has dried up, let child color inside the circles using crayons or oil pastel colors. After coloring, let child glue other background details you have created (such as clouds, sun, etc.)

4. And there you go, the "stamped circles tree" craft is DONE.

=== TREE SONGS FOR KIDS ===
=================================================================

A great classic music video about trees that you can sing or show to your kids is this song "Pretty Dancing Trees" from (kiddie viddie) with nice tune and lyrics about the beauty of trees as they dance and sway with the breeze.

=================================================================

Another great tree music video for kids is this song "Plant A Tree" by (patty shukla) with catchy tune and simple lyrics about planting a seed, watering them, to grow plants and trees which is good for our planet earth.
