Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. Styro Plate Crow / Crow Craft

10-4-2016 -- In this post, I will be sharing a "crow" craft idea. This was a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the long "ow" sound as in "crow". This is the most fun part of the curriculum, making the art projects. Lauren is going to make a "crow", I thought about ways how to make our crow using materials we already have at home. We have lots of these small styro plates in the cabinet that gave me the idea for making this styro plate crow craft.

READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS:
=================================================================

* cut styro plate (crow's head)

* cut styro plate (crow's body)

* cut hair, beak and feet patterns

=================================================================
DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT:

=================================================================

* Crow Head: Cut the sides around 1 small styro plate, getting only the small remaining circle in the middle of the plate.

* Crow Body with Wings: Make 2 slant cuts on both sides of the other small styro plate then cut the lower part of the plate in between the 2 slant cuts to reveal a crow body and wings pattern on the plate.

* Crow Beak: Cut a triangle shape on a construction paper, you may try other colors aside from what is done.

* Crow Feet: Draw a feet pattern on a construction paper in any color of choice.

* Crow Hair: Draw a small hair pattern on a spare styro plate.

================================================================= DONE BY CHILD:
=================================================================

* cut crow feet and hair patterns

* paint styro plates

* glue crow pieces together

* draw details on crow

================================================================= STEPS IN DOING THIS CROW CRAFT:
=================================================================
1. First, let child color the crow head, body, and hair with any dark color of choice aside from what is shown. Set painted pieces aside to dry.

2. Next, let child draw details on crow beak using coloring marker.

3. Once painted pieces are dry, let child glue googly eyes, beak, and feet on crow using liquid glue then glue hair pattern on top of crow head using hot glue. Put hot glue on the spot and guide child to put hair pattern on it.

4. And there you go, the "styro plate crow" is DONE. We have run out of black paint so Lauren's crow (in the image above) turned out pale. We tried putting it on top of a branch just like a real crow sitting on a branch of a tree.
