Coffee in Tea Bags, Lacking in coffee flavor? | How to make it better, My Personal Experience
I was at a supermarket in one mall here in my area and was looking for coffee and saw this "coffee in a tea bag" product. I've never seen or heard about it before and it caught my interest as you brew it the way you do tea and I'm curious as to how it taste like so I decided to buy one pack which costs Php 150.00 that has 10 coffee bags inside.

This brand available in my area has about 5 or 4 variants, I remember there was "caramel" and 3 other variants plus this "hazelnut" variant that I decided to try. I look up for it in online stores and there are several similar coffee in tea bag products with different brand names, there is also one supplier that you can contact for your own coffee in tea bags business labeled with your own personal business name or brand. So there are a lot of similar coffee in a tea bag products online with different brands or names but have the same or similar variants in their coffee bags.
BREWING THE COFFEE BAG
I tried brewing 2 bags for 1 cup (I used a small cup), as you cut open the individual packs it has a nice coffee aroma. Just pour a small amount of hot water (if you will use liquid milk or creamer to it later) to the coffee bags but still ensuring that the bags are fully submerge in hot water. I brewed it for 5 minutes.
ADDING CREAMER & SWEETENER
First, I tried using a liquid plant-based milk (Vitasoy Milky Almond) as creamer and honey as sweetener. You can use any milk or creamer you like: liquid or powder and sweetener: regular sugar, coconut sugar, honey, stevia, etc.
If using liquid creamer, start with half tablespoon or lower and with honey as sweetener, start with a tablespoon and taste then adjust as needed. I also tried it with powder creamer (powdered milk) and coconut sugar, if using powdered creamer (such as powdered milk, coffee mate, etc.) just put the right amount of water first when you steep the bags and you can adjust after that, this is to ensure you get the right controlled coffee flavor later.
WHAT THIS COFFEE IN A TEA BAG TASTES LIKE
So this coffee in a bag has a mild coffee taste, I think it's better to use a small cup as this coffee in a bag is already mild in flavor compare to regular coffee so it is advisable not to add too much water when you steep it in order to achieve and extract just the right amount of coffee flavor later especially if you will use a liquid creamer that can add extra liquid and could obscure the already mild coffee flavor even more.
If you brew 2 bags in 1 small cup with controlled amount of water this will give you a rich mild coffee flavor combined with the right amount of creamer and sweetener. If you want a richer coffee taste you can try using 3 bags in 1 cup. I tried using the bags twice and even with 2 bags, the coffee is not as rich as the first brew so it's better to discard the bags after first use.
WHAT TO DO WITH THIS KIND OF COFFEE PRODUCT
In my personal experience, in order to get the right kind of coffee flavor that you can enjoy and will not disappoint you is: 1.) Use 2 to 3 bags for a richer coffee ; 2.) Use a small cup in drinking this type of coffee product ; 3.) If using a liquid creamer, add small amount of water at first when steeping the bags, the liquid creamer can add an extra amount of liquid later so the amount of liquid can be controlled and will not affect the taste of the coffee ; 4.) If using a powder creamer, add just the right amount of water at first when steeping the bags, you can add a bit later to adjust the liquid if its a little lacking.
WHAT NOT TO DO WITH THIS KIND OF COFFEE PRODUCT
Avoid the following with this product so you will not come out with a bland or weak flavored coffee drink: 1.) Using only 1 coffee bag + adding too much water or liquid to it ; 2.) Using a big cup or mug in drinking this type of coffee product ; 3.) Putting a lot of water or too much liquid can obscure the already mild coffee flavor or taste of the product ; 4.) Using the bags twice or more results in bland or weak flavored coffee + the extra liquid added to it.
SHOULD I BUY OR USE THIS PRODUCT AGAIN?
When I look up for this coffee product in an online store, many people in the reviews complain that its coffee flavor is not intense enough or that they are disappointed by its weak and bland coffee taste. I think it depends on the serving size and the amount of liquid you add to the product in order to achieve the right kind of taste you can enjoy.
For me, I think this is still a good coffee to consider if you know how to control and use it the right way. I would definitely buy and use this kind of coffee product again if I can and I would like to try different and other variants as well in the future.
