Paper Masquerade Masks | Home Learning Art & Craft Project Activity

This was an art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 2: Letter of the Week) home school curriculum for the "m" sound as in "mask", Click Here To Find Out Why We Are Doing Homeschooling. Lauren will make some "masquerade mask", we have never done this before so we are excited to try it and see the outcome of this project. I found this "Masquerade Mask" craft from first palette, they have 3 kinds of masquerade masks templatesI printed all 3 so Lauren can make 3 different kinds of masks.

CREATING YOUR MASQUERADE MASKS

I think this is a fun masquerade mask for kids to make, you can use any coloring material such as crayons, watercolors, poster, tempera or acrylic paints, sharpie, coloring markers, etc. I cut the template and Lauren painted and colored the masks.

She colored her masks using poster paints and oil pastel colors. We followed the samples from "Masquerade Masks" craft, we hope to do some masquerade masks again in the future and get creative with our own styles and designs. It's great to create these masks for dressing up or costumes.

GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR MASQUERADE MASKS

Get the kids creating their own kind of designs on the blank masquerade masks template. Create a gold masquerade masks using gold poster or acrylic paint. Lauren brush gold glitter glues on her masks to make them appear sparkling and glittery.

We don't have colored feathers so I simply cut some orange crepe papers into leaf patterns, folded them in half then cut thin strips on the side. Lauren glued them onto a hard paper for use as a feather topper on one of the masks.

Lauren and her cousin tried the mask on and they look really nice and fun to wear. It's also a great idea to use these templates to create some colorful and lovely masks for a masquerade theme birthday celebration or party.
