Witch Craft | Halloween Craft: Egg Carton Witch | Home Learning Art & Craft Project Activity

In this post, I will be sharing a "witch" craft. This is a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) home school curriculum for the "tch" sound as in "witch". Lauren made this "witch" using egg cartons, disposable spoon and an empty thin cardboard tube from a wallpaper roll.

* FOR BRIM OF HAT: Take a round object with size just enough as brim for the witch's hat and trace it on an empty box cardboard. Make a cut or slice in the middle of the pattern using a utility knife, where the witch's head will be inserted later.

FOR HAT BELT: Cut a thin strip of paper and buckle pattern (if you want) on a construction paper of choice.

FOR WITCH'S FACE: Take two plastic spoons, cut the handle short then put them together with the bulging part of the spoon outwards back to back. Tape the spoon together using white masking tape so later the child can paint it with any color they want.

STEPS IN DOING THIS WITCH CRAFT

STEP #1: Let the child paint the egg cartons, cardboard tube, hat brim and arms with any dark colored paint of their choice. Set aside painted pieces to dry.

STEP #2: Next, let the child paint plastic spoon covered in masking tape with any color of choice. Set aside to dry.

STEP #3: Once, all the painted pieces are dry. Let the child glue one egg carton on top of the brim pattern to create the witch's hat using hot glue. Put glue on the spot and guide the child to glue it on the spot.

STEP #4: Next, let the child glue the googly eyes and nose on the spoon face. Afterwards, let child draw or glue other details such as nose and mouth.

STEP #5: Next, let child glue a strip of paper cut in fringe on the back of the spoon to create the witch's hair.

STEP #6: Next, put hot glue on the top of the spoon head and  guide the child to insert top of witch's head into the cut made on the brim earlier.

STEP #7: Next, let child slip 3 egg cartons onto the thin cardboard tube body to create witch's clothing. Then put hot glue on the tip or bottom of the spoon head and guide the child to glue it into the mouth or top opening of the tube body. After gluing head on tube body, let child glue detail around hat such as a belt or a simple piece of paper.

STEP #8: Lastly, let the child glue the arms, broomstick, and feet using hot glue. Let child glue broom stick at the back tip of one arm then glue hand pattern around broom stick using liquid glue.
