Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. Vegetable Art: Easy Finger Painted Carrot Patch Art + Links To More Carrot Related Stuff!

In this post, I will be sharing a fun and easy carrot art for kids of all ages, this is adapted from a carrot fingerprint craft I found, try making yours as a vegetable or carrot theme activity with your kid(s). We were watching a read aloud story on YouTube about a "carrot seed" with my daughter Lauren that inspired us to do this carrot patch art.

I found this "Fingerprint Carrot and Bunny" craft from craftymorning.com about creating some carrots planted in the ground using fingerprints and thought Lauren could try doing it, we did some variations to spiced up our version a bit and came up with this outcome which I'm going to share in this post. We called our resulting project "finger painted carrot patch art".

WHAT PAPER TO USE

We used bond paper when Lauren created her carrot patch art, you could use a bond paper with texture that is quite thick but it would be better to use a paper with a heavy weight texture such as a specialty, vellum or construction board to make it a bit resistant to the water in the paint and not possibly tear it while your child is pressing and spreading the paint together on the paper.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR CARROT PATCH ART

NOTE: This craft is suitable for kids about 4 and above, you may adapt the process to the skill or ability of the child.

STEP #1: Check out the step by step instructions on how to create the carrots with fingerprints in the original post "Fingerprint Carrot and Bunny" craft where we adapted this art from.

STEP #2: After drawing the dirt line in the middle of the paper and creating the carrots, allow your kid to dab some blue or green paint above the dirt line, they may combine 2 colors together then spread out and blend the colors with their pointer finger to create the sky background above the carrot patch.

STEP #3: Next, let child create the dirt below the sky by dabbing brown or any combination of 2 paints using their pointer finger below dirt line and around carrots then blending and spreading the paint together, the same process in creating the sky.

STEP #4: Once the paint is dry, it's time to add some leaves above the carrots. You can use strands of green yarn or paper rope for it. To enhance the look of the carrots, your child can draw some tiny lines on the carrots using brown or red gel pen or marker and maybe they can add some tiny roots on the side of the carrots too using gel pen or marker.

And that's how you do your "finger painted carrot patch", this art activity is easy for kids to make, they can have fun spreading and blending the colors around and be able to create a nice carrot patch painting with it.
