This is a very simple DIY, you just wrap the can body with paper then glue a head with eyes, nose and mouth then add a chest fur, feet and tail pieces together to complete your empty can rabbit. You can adapt the structure to create any color of rabbit of choice aside from what is shown.

CREATING YOUR RABBIT

I created my rabbit based on how "thumper" rabbit was illustrated, a character from the classic Disney animated movie "Bambi". You can create any kind or color of rabbit you want for this DIY. I used a blank rabbit head template and all patterns for the other parts of my can rabbits I have drawn myself. I will be sharing how you can save time and create yours fast and easy, keep reading below.

HOW TO CREATE EMPTY CAN RABBIT

STEP #1: Lay the can on the paper you will be using to cover it. Measure both ends of the can by creating a guide on the paper. Extend the guide by drawing a line with ruler to create a strip of rectangular pattern. Cut the pattern and use as can wrapper or cover, cut any paper extensions if any and secure ends with scotch tape.

STEP #2: Print a "bunny head template", choose any bunny you like. Custom scale the size of the chosen bunny head template in the printing settings that will fit best with the size of the can you are using. Print bunny head pattern and cut. Check out the links below for a selection of FREE printable bunny head templates that can be use for this DIY. The links are arranged according to how they are numbered in the collage image below.

STEP #3: Now that you got your rabbit head, create a round pattern to cover both ends of the can by tracing can bottom onto the paper to be used. Cut and glue patterns to both ends using hot glue.

STEP #4: If chosen bunny head printable doesn't have any, create or draw extra rabbit details such as ear shadows, eyes, mouth, nose, front and back feet, chest fur and tail. If you are creating multiple rabbits, just fold several papers to be used and trace a pattern on top of the folded paper then cut to reveal several pieces of each part in one cutting.

STEP #5: Decorate your rabbit head pattern with all the necessary details. Once complete, glue head onto the can body.

STEP #6: Glue front and back feet as well as tail using hot glue. Lastly glue a piece of jumbo craft stick beneath the bunny body, in the middle part using hot glue. This will make your rabbit have balance and rest flat on any surface it will be displayed onto.

And there goes your "EMPTY CAN RABBIT". I used the rabbits I made as a table decoration for some Easter fun with Lauren. Try creating a variety of rabbits using any size of cans as a fun spring Easter decoration in your house or on your table.
