Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR OWN VALENTINE OWL

I think valentine owls are really cute with their fun owl related valentine messages that you attached to them. The picture below are the valentine disposable cup owls Lauren made, this version was purely handmade but I'll be sharing how you can make yours easily using templates.

Original Version of this Valentine Owl Craft

Lauren made a mistake in gluing the heart with messages (as you can see in the image above) on her valentine owls, it's suppose to be inverted so both heart shapes are visible when the project is all done.

Using the heart templates from the link shared above, you may use the following settings in printing the hearts to fit an 8A or 8 oz. size disposable styro cup:

For the Larger Heart Piece: You may choose any of the large heart templates (classic, rounded or tapered), I'm using "Large, Classic Heart (7 inch)" template in my sample as seen above. You may custom scale it at "58" in the printing settings.

For the Heart On Top of Large Heart:  Use the same shape of hearts that you use for the larger heart, you may print the medium size hearts for this part. I'm using the "Medium Classic Heart (5 inch)" template in my sample. You may custom scale it at "70" in the printing settings.

OWL EYE BALLS & BEAK: Take construction paper in any color of choice and trace a round object with size just enough as eyes of owls on it. If you will make 2 or more eyes, fold the paper to be use in half or several times to create multiple sections in it. Trace round object on top of folded paper and cut to reveal 2 or multiple pieces in one cutting. For the beak, take construction paper, you may try other colors aside from what is shown. Draw a triangle or narrow heart pattern on the paper. Set aside beak pattern for child to cut.

OWL HAIR: Take paper with same color or pattern as main head pattern and draw any pattern of choice on it resembling the feathers that stood out on both sides of an owl's head.

HEARTS TO WRITE MESSAGES: You may use a plain heart or a "lined heart" template, Click Here To Check Out FREE Printable Lined Heart Templates with lines in them where the child can easily write their "valentine owl" message. We also need 2 hearts for this part, a larger heart and another heart to be glued on top of it that is slightly lower in size. Print plain or lined heart template directly into a light colored construction paper or bond paper so the message written on it can be visible. You may use construction papers in any color of choice or pattern papers on the larger heart, set aside for child to cut.

STEPS IN DOING THIS VALENTINE DISPOSABLE CUP OWL CRAFT

STEP #1: Let child paint disposable cup with any color of choice aside from what is shown. Set aside painted cup to dry.

STEP #2: Next, let child create the owl head or face by gluing smaller heart pattern for the head on top or in the middle of its larger heart pattern.

STEP #3: Then, let child create the owl eyes by gluing the round patterns for the eyes together, next let child glue the eyes onto the owl head completed earlier.

STEP #4: Afterwards, let child glue a beak below the eyes and the extra hair patterns on the sides of the owl head.

STEP #5: Next, let child glue the lined hearts on top of its larger heart pattern to create a frame or border for it.

STEP #6: Afterwards, let child glue the owl head completed earlier onto the inverted lined heart, next glue the heart hands on the sides like they are holding the heart.

STEP #7: Then, let child write a valentine related owl message in the lined hearts and draw additional details on the owl face using pen or coloring markers.

STEP #8: Once, painted disposable cup is dry, let child glue the owl head with the message onto the inverted cup using hot glue with supervision, put hot glue on the spot and assist child in putting the owl head with message on the glue.

STEP #9: Finally, let child glue heart feet below cup using hot glue with supervision, put hot glue on the spot then assist child in gluing heart feet on it.

And there goes your "VALENTINE DISPOSABLE CUP OWL". the idea can also be adapted to create a valentine owl treat or gift holder by inverting the cup than the one made as a craft or decoration. Put some chocolates or other small sweets for anyone, toys for kids inside the cup at the back of the owl, you may put the treats in a plastic bag and tie with a string. Give as a fun or cute valentine gift by kids or adult to loved ones or friends on valentine's day.
