Creating A Carton Paper Tube Fox | Home Learning Art & Craft Project Activity
This was an art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 2: Letter of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the "x" sound as in "foX", Click Here To Find Out Why We Are Doing Homeschooling. I found this "Fox Toilet Paper Roll" craft from DLTK's CRAFTS FOR KIDS website. There are many other versions of doing a toilet paper roll fox but I chose this one because they have both colored and black and white templates.

You can have the option for your child to color the templates themselves or to simply do the cutting using the colored templates. You can use empty toilet paper roll as body of the fox for this craft, you can also make use of empty carton paper tubes from paper towel rolls like we did or you can buy some kraft paper tube or cardboard tube online or any school supplies store near you.
FREE FOX PIECES TEMPLATES FOR FOX CARTON TUBE CRAFT
I have recently updated this post and checked out the website where we got the templates for this carton tube fox we made 10 years ago but the website is not available anymore but I have found another "Fox Toilet Roll" craft with FREE colored & black & white templates similar to the ones we originally made. Print the template on a thick bond paper or heavy weight paper such as vellum board or specialty board.
Lauren made 2 kinds of foxes in brown and orange color. You can use any coloring material you like to color the black and white templates such as watercolor, poster paint, crayons, coloring pencils, coloring markers, etc. Lauren used oil pastel colors in coloring her templates.
WRAPPING THE CARTON PAPER TUBE
The template we used has this rectangular pattern that is used to cover or wrap around a carton paper tube which is the body of the fox. We used cardboard tubes from paper towel rolls, they are longer than toilet paper tubes so I just cut the extended part of the tube to where the rectangular piece of the template ends when it is glued on the tube.
GETTING MORE CREATIVE WITH YOUR CARTON TUBE FOX
Using the black and white fox pieces template, your child can get creative with any look and color of their foxes such as gray, black, etc. and create any kind of fox they like. Lauren added additional details on her foxes using coloring markers, she draw some whiskers to the side of the fox's mouth. You can also cut thin strips of construction papers to glue as whiskers for your foxes.

It needs a total of 4 ink bottles (CMYK) to refill the tank, you can save even more by refilling with universal ink. Just make sure the ink is compatible with the printer model before deciding on a purchase.
