Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. Flower Craft: Carton Tube Flowers In A Pot | Home Learning Art & Craft Activity

In this post, I will share a flower craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the short "ow" sound as in "flower". I thought about what kind of flower craft to do for this project with materials I can find at home. I saw these empty paper towel tubes I kept in the cabinet and thought about doing our flower by recycling this material.

This carton tube flower craft was adapted from this Cardboard Toilet Roll Flowers Craft. We used paper towel tubes and we did a variation with how the petals were cut and make it a rounded one, we created a ball of crumpled colored papers for the centerpiece and we added some extra leaves on the stems.

READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS

* cut paper towel tubes (edges cut resembling flower petals)

* cut small squares of construction or art papers (for crumpled balls, flower centerpiece)

 * cut leaf patterns

DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT

NOTE: This craft is a collaboration between parent or caregiver and child and is suitable for kids about 6 and above, you may adapt the process to the skill or ability of the child.

Flowers: Depending on how many flowers your child will make, cut the long paper towel tube into short pieces, make some cut on the sides of the tube then fold to spread out flower petals. Next shape edges of petals in any way you like (rounded, pointed, etc.), you may create a bunch of assorted flowers or many flowers of the same kind.

Flower Centerpiece: Cut small squares of different colored construction papers or art papers of choice to crumple into small balls as flower centerpiece.

Flower Leaves: Fold a green construction paper into multiple sections then draw a leaf pattern on top, next cut the pattern to reveal multiple pieces of leaves in one cutting.

DONE BY CHILD

* paint flower tubes, stem sticks, and disposable cup as flower pot

* crumple paper balls for flower centerpiece

* glue flower pieces together

STEPS IN DOING THIS FLOWER CRAFT

STEP #2: Next, let child crumple one square of cut colored paper into a ball then put one on top of the other and crumple, repeat the process until a ball of crumpled paper with the size that fits the hole in the middle of the tube flowers is created. Spread liquid glue around middle of flower tube and glue the balls of crumpled paper into it to create the flower centerpiece.

STEP #3: Next, let child attach green sticks or stems on the middle bottom of each flower tubes using hot glue. Put hot glue on the spot and let child glue sticks on it.

STEP #4: Add something into the cup such as rice, colored sand, or anything you have around the house that can be used to hold and balance the flowers together when they are placed in the cup. Next, let child insert flowers into the cup and lastly, let child glue leaves on the stems using liquid glue.

And there goes your "CARTON TUBE FLOWERS IN A POT", get creative with your own carton tube flowers today. It's also great for "Mother's Day" or as "Spring" season craft.
