House Craft: Paper House Collage | Home Learning Art & Craft Project Activity

In this post, I will be sharing a "house" craft. This was a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the short "ou" sound as in "house"Click Here To Find Out Why We Are Doing Homeschooling

I thought about doing a house collage made by cutting different colors of construction papers in uneven and slanted shapes for the roofs, chimneys, windows, walls and doors to form different kinds of houses.

READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS

* cut house parts (roofs, windows, doors, chimneys)

 * cut background pieces (trees, clouds, etc.)

DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT

House Parts: Create roofs, walls, windows, doors and chimneys on different colors of construction papers in any color of choice in slant and uneven patterns using a ruler. You may try different shapes aside from circle or square in creating windows.

Background Pieces: Create any background scenery of your choice aside from what is shown. Draw background pieces such as trees, cloud, etc. on a construction paper in different shapes of choice.

DONE BY CHILD

* cut house parts patterns

* cut background pieces

* glue background pieces and house on paper

* draw/color details on houses

STEPS IN DOING THIS HOUSE CRAFT

STEP #1: First, let child draw pattern details (such as lines or any detail needed) on background pieces like trees, mountain, etc. then glue the pieces on a heavy weight paper in any color of choice to create background view or scenery.

STEP #2: Next, let child alternately draw pattern details of their choice (such as lines, waves, zigzag, etc.) on the house parts using coloring markers and color the drawings using crayons. For example, they can draw patterns on the roof and leave the wall plain then add patterns on the door.

STEP #3: Next, let child glue and put together the houses on the background paper. Then let child glue other additional background pieces such as clouds, trees, flowers or grasses anywhere on top or sides of houses. Let child draw additional details on the pieces using coloring markers.
