In this post, I will be sharing a simple "princess" art. This was an art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) home school curriculum for the "ss" sound as in "princess". She made this princess in a variety of ways combining them together with different types of materials such as foil paper, construction papers and pattern papers creating a colorful and fun looking princess.

DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT
NOTE: This craft is a collaboration between parent or caregiver and child and is suitable for kids about 7 and above, you may adapt the process to the skill or ability of the child.
* PRINCESS FACE & EARS: Take some round objects (a round lid with a size just enough for face of princess and a small coin for the ears). Decide on the skin tone of the princess, trace round objects on a construction paper in any flesh color shade of choice.
* PRINCESS HAIR: Draw hair patterns on a construction paper in color of choice. Create 2 hair patterns for (back and front hair).
* PRINCESS NECK: Draw a rectangle using a ruler on a construction paper with the same color as the face and ear patterns.
* PRINCESS ARMS: Draw the pattern on a construction paper with the same color color as the face, ears and neck patterns.
* PRINCESS CROWN: Draw a crown pattern on an aluminum foil paper in any color of choice.
* PRINCESS EYES: Take a round object (large coin) and trace it on a white bond paper. For the circle to be glued in the middle of this pattern, take a smaller round object (small coin) and trace it on a patterned paper.
* PRINCESS MOUTH: Draw a mouth pattern on a red or pink construction paper.
* PRINCESS CLOTHES: Draw or create the patterns on a construction paper and patterned papers alternately. Create any shape or design for princess clothes aside from what is shown (eg. we used circles to create the sleeves of our princess' dress, etc).
DONE BY CHILD

STEPS IN DOING THIS PRINCESS ART
STEP #1: Let child create princess background. Your child can create any kind of background they want aside from what is shown. We follow these "8 Watercolor Technique For Beginners", if you choose to do a watercolor background, your child can use any technique of choice, Lauren chose the "crayon resist" technique for her background. STEP #2: Next, let child draw some details on the hair patterns using black marker. Your child can draw and create any kind of detail they wish for their princess' hair (eg. waves, horizontal lines, etc.)
STEP #3: Next, let child draw some details of choice on the mouth using a coloring marker or gel ink pen then let them glue the eye patterns together.
STEP #4: Next, let child glue the ears, hair, eyes, mouth and neck pieces together. Then let child trace the edges of the eyes and mouth and add details by drawing some eyebrows, eye lashes and a nose on the princess' face.
STEP #5 Next, let the child put the dress pieces together to create the clothes and glue it below the neck of the princess to create the whole body. Then the child can glue the arms on the sides.
STEP #6: Once the princess is put together, let the child glue the princess onto the background. Let the child trace every edge of the princess using a black marker to make it stand out and create the effect like it has been drawn instead of being glued on the background. The child can also stick and draw some details on the clothes and anywhere on the body (maybe some earrings, necklace, etc.) using sequins or gem stickers.
STEP #7: Finally, let the child glue in the crown of the princess and add some details on it using gem stickers or sequins.
