Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. ABOUT THIS GAME I was thinking about Halloween themes for a DIY I could do this year just to enjoy the Halloween season and I remember "Plants VS Zombies", I have been playing this game on the computer in the past and it's one of the games I reall

Animal Craft: Disposable Cup Donkey

In this post, I will be sharing a "donkey" craft. This was a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the "ey" sound as in "donkey".  We have so many paper cups, so I thought about creating our donkey using this material.

READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS

* cut paper cup (head)

* cut  ears and arms patterns

* cut mouth and tummy spot patterns

DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT

Donkey Head: Take a paper cup and cut it just enough to make it a bit shorter than the paper cup body.

Donkey Arms: Take the spare pieces of paper cup from donkey head or a board paper with same color as what your child will paint the donkey and draw arms patterns on it. Let child cut patterns

Donkey Ears: Take a another piece of paper cup or a board paper with same color as what your child will paint the donkey, cut and draw some ear patterns on it. Draw an ear shadow in the middle of each paper cup ear patterns using a pencil or draw ear shadows on a construction paper chosen by child. Let child cut patterns.

Donkey Mouth and Tummy Spot: Take a white construction paper, draw round patterns on it (bigger and a bit smaller). Let child cut circles, next measure smaller circle below paper cup head and the bigger circle below paper cup body, draw a line using a ruler at the end of each circles that will be cut off. Let child cut on the lines.

 DONE BY CHILD

* cut ears and arms patterns

* cut mouth and tummy spot patterns

* paint donkey pieces

* glue donkey pieces together

* draw details on donkey

STEPS IN DOING THIS DONKEY CRAFT

STEP #1: Let child paint paper cup head, body, ears, and arms pattern with color of their choice. Skip painting process for ears and arms if you use a board paper for it. Make sure to color the ear shadow patterns that was drawn with pencil in the middle of paper cup ear patterns with a different shade or color than the rest of the ears. Set painted pieces aside to dry.

STEP #2: Once painted pieces are dry, let child spread liquid glue on the insides of the paper cup head and glue it on top of paper cup body.

STEP #3: Next, let child draw hooves on the arms, a nostril and mouth on the mouth spot pattern using coloring pens. Next, let child glue googly eyes and mouth spot on paper cup head using liquid glue.

STEP #4: Next, let child glue ears on top side of paper cup head using hot glue. Put hot glue on the spot and let child glue ears on it. Then cut strands of yarns with color chosen by child for the donkey mane. Let child glue yarns in the middle of donkey ears using liquid glue. Finally, let child glue tummy spot pattern below paper cup body. And there you go, the "paper cup donkey" craft is DONE. Below are Lauren's version of doing this paper cup donkey craft. The donkey came out fun and cute to look at.

This donkey craft can be used in many other ways afterwards: your kid can maybe use it as a toy for pretend play or you can use it to learn about the animal. It's also great to use it as an object in telling a donkey themed story to your kid(s).
