In this post, I will be sharing a "knot" craft. This was a craft project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 3: Sound of the Week) home school curriculum for the "kn" sound as in "knot". I thought about creating a flower out of knots.

The flower is created using different colors of yarns tied into a knot which will be glued on a construction paper. Buttons and beads are glued in the center to complete the whole flower. Lauren created some vines of knotted flowers and above is my version of this "knotted flower" craft.
READY FOR KID BEFORE STARTING ACTIVITY ALONG WITH OTHER MATERIALS

DONE BY ADULT OR PARENT
NOTE: This craft is a collaboration between parent or caregiver and child and is suitable for kids about 7 and above, you may adapt the process to the skill or ability of the child.
* For Flowers: Allow child to choose number of strands to create flowers. Let them choose colors to be used. Cut the chosen colors of yarn strands.
DONE BY CHILD
* Tie yarn strands into knots
* Glue yarns on paper
* Decorate flower knots
STEPS IN DOING THIS KNOT CRAFT
STEP #1: Let the child take a liquid glue and make some line patterns on the construction paper for the stems or you can draw some pencil patterns that the child can just follow or trace with white or liquid glue.
STEP #2: Next, let the child glue some strands of yarns on the glue patterns. Cut some yarns and let the child glue them on the paper.
STEP #3: Next, it's time to make the flowers. Let the child tie the different colors of yarn strands into a loose knot like the ones shown below. Later, let the child fold the extra strands of yarns on the sides towards the back of it.
STEP #4: Next, let the child put a large glue circle anywhere on the spot where they want the folded knots will be glued into. Next, let child glue the knotted yarns on the glue circles. After gluing the knots, let child create a small hole in the middle of the knotted yarns with their finger where the bead centerpiece will be glued into later.
STEP #5: Afterwards, let child draw some leaf patterns with liquid glue and glue in some green yarn. They may create any kind of leaf pattern they like (straight, oval, etc.)
STEP #6: Next, let child glue some beads or small buttons in the middle of the flowers using hot glue. Put hot glue on the spot and assist or direct the child to put the bead or button on it.
