Zombie Toss: Create A Plants VS Zombies Inspired Halloween Game + Links to FREE Printables!

This year, for some fun this Halloween season, I made this game that me and Lauren played inspired and involving characters from the popular tower defense game "Plants VS Zombies". I call this game "zombie toss", I use a small empty cardboard box to create a zombie head that will be used to toss onto the plant characters. I used small disposable cups as stand of the plant characters. The cups hold prizes inside them that anyone can get from knocking down any of the plant characters. ABOUT THIS GAME I was thinking about Halloween themes for a DIY I could do this year just to enjoy the Halloween season and I remember "Plants VS Zombies", I have been playing this game on the computer in the past and it's one of the games I reall

Ocean Life Diorama

3-31-2016 -- This was an art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 2: Letter of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the long "o" sound as in "ocean". Lauren is going to make an "ocean" craft, I did a search for some ocean craft for kids and found this "Coral Reef Habitat Diorama" craft from firstpalette.com. I've seen many other versions of creating ocean dioramas out there but I chose this version because of convenience of the whole process. I think it's a very nice craft and we've never done anything like it, we call this project "Ocean Life Diorama".

FirstPalette have both colored and black and white templates of different sea creatures, fishes and corals. I chose the black and white templates so Lauren can color the creatures and corals herself.

Lauren used glitter pens and crayons to color the template. Next, Lauren cut out the sea creatures and corals herself. I covered the shoe box we used with dark blue cartolina paper.

If you don't have  or can't find any sand around you, it's a good idea to buy and use foam bits or you may create your own foam bits. Here, I cut out a styro bowl into very thin strips, then cut the strips into very tiny bits. To create colored bits, it's a good idea to dip the tiny bits of foam that you cut into a paint mixture that is the color of sand or any color you want and let it dry then you can use it as sand for your ocean or coral reef diorama.

I spread glue all around the ocean floor of the box and Lauren sprinkled the tiny foam bits on it to finish the whole project. This version of doing an ocean diorama is definitely an easy and good one for kids to make.

The templates are there, kids can get creative in coloring the black and white templates using and combining different kinds of coloring medium. The attachment of the creatures inside the box is easy and the outcome looks really neat and fun. You may also cover the front with plastic cover so it looks like you have a paper or carton aquarium on display. Now, we have this project displayed on top of a table in our room and it looks really cute and nice as a paper aquarium.

Here is a beautiful motivational story video for kids "The Boy And The Ocean" by (max lucado) about God's special and never ending love for all us that is as wide, big, and deep as the ocean, mountain and sky. This story video is beautifully interpreted and narrated by max lucado himself.
