Making A Paper King's Crown + Link To FREE Printables!

This was an art project that Lauren did in Brightly Beaming Resources' (Step 2: Letter of the Week) homeschool curriculum for the "k" sound as in "king", Click Here To Find Out Why We Are Doing Homeschooling

CREATING AN EASY KING'S CROWN

I search for some king's crown craft for kids and found this "Royal Paper Crown" craft. These are King & Queen crown templates and they have 3 kinds of crown template patterns: blankcolor page and colored. I printed the blank templates so Lauren can work on decorating the crowns herself.

She made 2 kinds of king's crown: the cross design and the simple and basic zig zag one (as you can see the finished crowns she has done in the picture below)Lauren cut the basic zig zag template and I cut the intricate cross design template.

PAINTING THE CROWN, DIY ALTERNATIVE GOLD PAINT

You can paint the blank templates using gold poster paint, I can't find any gold poster paint at the store so I just mix yellow paint with small amounts of brown and white to create a somewhat golden color shade to paint the paper crowns.

Once the templates were dry, Lauren spread gold glitter glue on the painted crowns using a paint brush to make the crowns appear somewhat shiny and sparkling. The  gold glitter glue helps to add a bit of glitter and spark to the plain golden color of the crown.

ADDING DETAILS AND DECORATING THE PAPER CROWNS

Using the crown templates from this "Royal Paper Crown" craft, kids can create their own designs on the blank crowns using glitter glue, gem stickers, sequins of any shapes (round, stars, etc.) or rhinestones.

Color the black and white crowns with markers and crayons, highlight the details using colored glue. Decorate a colored crown template by matching the details on the template with  actual sequins and gems. Doing this craft can be adapted to kids of all ages and abilities.

USES OF THIS KING PAPER CROWN

This is definitely an easy and fun crown craft for kids to make, it's also great to make and use for pretend plays or even as part of a royal costume for a costume party or dressing up as royalty on Halloween. Get creative with your own king's paper crown today!
